  • Tom Lord, the author of arch, stopped by to talk about arch as a possible replacement vcs for OSAF.

  • Initial big issue for us is full Windows support.
  • The algorithmic issues that arch is tackling for merging are the same that we face for sharing.

StuartParmenter's issues with the current txn model (from today's IRC)

  • random commits at potentially "bad" times
  • commits no longer have any meaning (makes it harder to use commit for undo)
  • threads don't know if anything that they are operating on has changed so they always have to commit before they do anything, and immediately after
