Notes from CSG
This includes only comments made by others during presentations, not points made by presenters. Comments are grouped by what presentation they occurred during/after.
Chao - news, schedules
- Commonly people with 1000s of IMAP folders
- "tickling" of deferred items is not workflow
- Question on whether our item collections could be published as IMAP folders
- Email is a very solid infrastructure and we want to make sure you interact with IMAP servers and large email stores, making decisions that work right for us. Our infrastructure people should meet with Lisa and Brian at some point to discuss this.
- (Michael) Can we meet sooner than Sept/Oct to see where things are with the security framework -- look at where we were and how we're doing -- recalibrate requirements as the technology shifts.
Lisa - Protocol standards
- No objections to WebDAV as data access basis for RAP
- May be issues using zeroconf in enterprise environments, as evidenced by issues that have arisen with Rendezvous (some universities make users turn it off)
- Concern over how new a protocol/standard CalDAV is, compared to CAP
- Michael raised a very technical question about whether a CalDAV client would use GET to download free/busy time, or whether it would be another method -- can follow up later
- Shared frustration with CAP/CalSch
- Cliff said this is the right direction
Heikki - crypto stuff
- Concerns that OpenSSL won't necessarily include support for newer PKIX features and support bridges
- Microsoft has proposal for Longhorn certificate exchange - may be a connection to make there.
- When is LDAP support going to be added
- (Michael) It's cool to make certificates very public information and share them promiscuously
Scott - small college survey
- (Michael) I wonder if they really need POP, or just IMAP
- SMTP support keeps getting overlooked in Chandler planning (oops)
- Printing support (print calendar views, emails, etc) also overlooked
- Discussion of one place for universal event calendar (Ira) -- this is a pain point that would increase adoption of Chandler
Pieter - community
- Ira -- how about a newsletter or monthly document to send by email to CSG
- Oren -- we could host your next tutorial
- Michael -- how about a Chandler dev tutorial at the research triangle?
