Here are my step by step instructions to install the server bundle on OSX, 2/28/06.

Note: for Step 5. Are we encouraging Chandler users (not developers) to try this? Step 6 is a woozy! I probably need more screen snaps for the step by step thing.

Step 1. Download Scooby full build on: http://builds.osafoundation.org. The tar is labeled correctly: osaf-server-bundle-0.3-0.1, but the folder is just labeled bundle. [The folder would be the same name as the .tar: osaf-server-bundle-0.3-0.1. This needs to be filed as a bug if not already?]

Step 2. Open server bundle in terminal. Installing the bundle instructions: http://wiki.osafoundation.org/bin/view/Documentation/ServerBundleInstallation

http://wiki.osafoundation.org/bin/view/Projects/ServerBundleDevelopmentHome [Since this is already documented on the wiki, I think the only thing is to make sure on OSX that it's documented (on the build instructions. This needs to be filed as a bug if not already?): Java_Home=/usr and the latest version Java 1.5 ]

Step 3. Set up a Cosmo account on your local machine: http://localhost:8080/ Click on the "Go to Cosmo" link and 'create a new account' 'Log Out' once you have created a Cosmo account

Step 4. Go back to: http://localhost:8080 Click on the 'Go to Scooby' link and log in to Scooby using your Cosmo ID and Password you have just created.

Step 5. Welcome to Scooby!

To sweep your events from Chandler into Scooby:

Please note the events you create in Scooby will not be sync back into Chandler

Step 6.

  • Select the collection on the left side bar. ie. Priscilla's calendar
  • Under the 'Collection' menu, make sure the collection you want to see in Scooby is 'Unpublished'.
  • Under the 'File' menu, go to 'Accounts…" a dialog window box should pop up.
  • Under the "Create new account…" drop down menu. Select 'Sharing WebDAV'
  • Type in :
    • Description: "your collection name in Chandler"
    • Server: localhost
    • Path: /cosmo/home/[your Cosmo ID]
    • User name: [your Cosmo/Scooby ID]
    • Password: [your Cosmo/Scooby password]
    • Port number: 8080
    • Uncheck 'User SSL' checkbox
    • Make sure 'Use as default account for sharing' is selcted
  • Click on the 'Test this account' button. If everything is working you should see this:

A pop up window: WebDAV Test Results: Test was successful. This account has 'read' or 'read/write' access.

  • Under the 'Collection' menu, select "Share [your collection]". Click on the share button. Please note recurring events on Chandler will slow down the collection sharing process. It may hang on an event, but it is processing, please be patient and wait. [This needs to be filed as a bug if not already filed]

Once it is finished, you should see two URLs, Read-write and Read-only. Click the 'Done' button.

  • Enter in your Cosmo/Scooby ID and Password. You should see your Chandler events on your Scooby page. Go back to step 5.
