Help for Chandler Server (Cosmo) Users

(Release 0.6 and 0.6.1) You may have arrived at this page by clicking on the 'help' link on the top right hand corner of your calendar running in a browser window.

We regularly update our help pages. If you don't find what you're looking here, feel free to send us an e-mail at to answers to your questions. Current activity of the project is viewed by visiting the Cosmo IRC Chat log at irc.freenode.net in #cosmo. Feel free to add any questions of your own below so we can try and build out this page.

What do you want to do?

Create an event

  • To create an event click on the calendar canvas, a new event will appear and you can fill out the details in the event details (information pane) on your right. Be sure to Save your events, otherwise your changes will not be saved.

Edit an event

  • To edit an event, click on the event in the calendar view. The event details will be displayed in an information pane on the right side of the window. Make your edits to the event and click the Save button at the bottom of the pane, otherwise your changes will not be saved.

View events on a different week

  • Navigate to a different week by selecting a date on the miniature calendar on the bottom left. You can also navigate weekly by selecting the forward and back arrows at the top of the calendar to the left of the displayed Month.

Turn on time zones

  • In Cosmo 0.6 we only manage time zones per event. On each event you can select a time zone (including "none" for floating events) by selecting from the Time Zone drop down list in the event details. Make sure to Save your events, otherwise your time zone changes will not be saved.

How do I choose what time zone my calendar displays in?

  • In Cosmo 0.6 we do not yet support this. The timezone of your displayed calendar is determined by the information your browser gets from your system preferences. If your change your computer's default timezone and reload your browser the events with timezone selections will move accordingly. Note that "floating" events, those with timezone set to "none" will always display at the start time of the event regardless of the timezone setting of your computer.

How do I enable time zone support?

  • In the current release of Cosmo 0.6 this feature is not yet enabled. In a future version, once logged in you will be able to turn on time zones from the settings menu.

What do I do if I forget my user account password?

  • If you forget your password send an email to .

  • If you are running your own OSAF bundle server, your administrator can go to the administrator UI, click the user whose password you want to change. A "modify selected user" link appears - click that. A window pops up where you can change the password. You can contact us at if you need assistance for us to walk you through it.

How do I change my password?

  • Log into your account then click on the 'Settings' link. Select the 'General' tab to change your password.

How do I add a collection to my account?

  • If have received a URL/ticket in an e-mail, select the green '+' button next to the name of the calendar collection to log in and add the collection into your Cosmo account. *Please note:* you might not be able to do this until the Preview release of Chandler.

I'd like to see a Chandler calendar in iCal

  • When you're logged in to your Cosmo account, select the the collection_details.png button to view information about your calendar collection details. Select from the 'Subscribe with…' drop down list to access your collection data. Select your preferred calendar application or feed aggregator. Copy and paste the URL into your preferred software. You are then subscribing to a shared collection. If anyone makes an update to that collection, you will be able to see the updates.

I'd like to subscribe to a Chandler calendar in Exchange

  • We currently do no support subscriptions with exchange calendar. However, you can make a copy of your calendar information and saved as .ics file to your own computer and then import the .ics file into Exchange. This should work for other calendar applications (ie. iCal, Sunbird) as well. When you're logged in to your Cosmo account, select the the collection_details.png button to view information about your calendar collection details. Select 'Download calendar…' from the drop down list and save the .ics file to your computer. Then in your preferred calendar application, import the .ics file from your computer. Any updates made on a shared calendar will not be updated on Exchange. *Please note:* We have not fully tested this yet.

I'd like to see a Chandler calendar in Google Calendar.

  • Similar to Exchange we currently do not support subscriptions to Google Calendar yet. You can however move your calendar information and save as .ics file to your computer and import them into Google Calendar. When you're logged in to your Cosmo account, select the the collection_details.png button. Select from the 'Download calendar…' from the drop down list and save the .ics file to your computer. Then in Google Calendar, import the .ics file from your computer to view the calendar. Any updates made on a shared calendar will not be updated on Google Calendar. *Please note:* We have not fully tested this yet.
